When can I book a lesson?
Look on my online calendar as your first port of call. This will give an indication of my availability. If nothing appears available, email lauren@gretgrixequestrian.com.
Please note: Weekends are highly popular and often booked out weeks in advance. Do not expect to get a weekend appointment by contacting me the day before.
How much is a lesson?
$70 for a 45 min private schoolmaster lesson
$60 for a 30 min Equisimulator lesson or 45 min lesson on your own horse
How do I pay?
All payments are now taken online at time of booking by PayPal’s payment gateway (you can pay by Credit Card or Debit Card – no PayPal account needed). If you are NDIS funded or require another payment method, contact me prior to your lesson.
Cash on day is only available by prior arrangement in exceptional circumstances and not by first time customers.
Do you just teach kids?
No! I teach riders of all ages and varying abilities. Whether you are new to riding, or a more experienced rider needing “eyes on the ground” I can help. I teach riders from age 4 to 70+! Adults returning to riding are most welcome.
Do you have horses I can ride?
Yes, we have a small team of schoolmaster horses & ponies
Do you do trail rides?
No, sorry – this is not something we offer
Do you offer group lessons?
Generally, no. However semi private lessons (2 riders) can be coordinated for siblings or friends to share a lesson. Ideally, this service is for those who have ridden here before. Beginner lessons are conducted 1:1 only.
Do you travel?
Locally, yes – if you have your own horse. Extra fees will apply. Most lessons are conducted on my property (address provided on booking).
What time should I arrive for my lesson?
Try to arrive as close as possible to your allocated time – not too early (and let me know if you’re running late). I have factored in time for saddling up and pre-ride discussions into appointment times. Please wait and I will be with you at your allocated time. Often I am busy with my family or other clients.
Please be mindful that this is also my family’s residence & respect their need for privacy
What should I bring?
Riders should wear long pants, enclosed shoes and a helmet (if they have one). We can provide helmets if necessary. In warm weather, please bring a drink bottle and sunscreen. A warm, waterproof coat is a good idea in winter.
If it rains/is boiling hot/there’s a storm….what do I do?
If the weather is unsafe, I will notify you within an hour of your lesson time. I still conduct lessons in light rain. If it is very hot, your lesson will be conducted in the morning or evening. Lessons will be postponed in extreme weather which poses a risk to rider safety. In winter, there will be the option of having lessons in a local indoor arena on allocated days – extra fees apply.
Do you take horses for training?
Yes. I take horses for further education, general schooling and to bring back into work. I also can take on horses to sell on. I am not a horse breaker or remedial re-trainer for “problem” horses with potentially dangerous vices.
